Playing With The "Utah" Cousins

I blogged about Utah, and didn't mention the most important thing...playing with the cousins! Here's Bryson with Lauren and little Lacie. We love them so! Thanks Jeremy and Julie for opening your house to us.

Utah In October

We're back from Utah now, it was a great trip...but it didn't start out that way. The day we set out to leave I noticed Bryson wasn't himself. Once we got to Utah we took him to the doctor and found out he had Croup. So needless to say, we spent the first few days locked up in the Hampton Hotel next to Thanksgiving Point until Bryson's fever went away.

We spent a lot of time watching "Little Einstein" videos. He loves them and constantly points to the computer and says "that?", asking to watch it again.

We found a cute "cool mist" humidifier at Kohler's. Doctor recommended.

Feeling better!

At one point I was stir crazy. I took Bryson over to Thanksgiving Point and we had a blast. Even though it was pouring outside, we forged on and saw the dinosaur museum, the cute Emporium shop, had lunch at the deli, and even had a pony ride. The cold air did him good.


The reason we were out there was because Brett was going Elk hunting with his brothers and extended family. I would have stayed at my sister in laws house but because of Bryson's sickness, I didn't want to infect the rest of the family. When the boys got back, Bryson was well enough and we got to stay with them.
On one of the days, Patrice (my mother in law) came with me to Salt Lake to meet up with an old friend of mine, Amber (she's on my blog list). It was so good to see her and catch up. She met us on a break from work, so it was short but very meaningful. I was a dummy and forgot to get a picture of us, oh well, next time. Before meeting with Amber we went to a store called "Tai Pan". It's an amazing home decor store and it was all done up for the holidays. It's a huge store and very overwhelming. It's hard to see everything in one day. Patrice and I agreed, if there was one in California, we'd need to get second jobs :)
Besides meeting with Amber, there were two other things I wanted to accomplish while in Utah. One was getting a sewing machine (which I did!), the other was going to a session at the Salt Lake Temple, a first for both Brett and I. Mission accomplished!




Our time inside the temple was even more beautiful than our time outside, and by looking at these pictures, it was pretty amazing!

Even though Utah is beautiful this time of year, I am so glad to be back home.

We're in Utah right now, I have lot's to blog about but I don't know how to upload photos to Brett's laptop. So I'll update everyone once we're back home and I can go crazy in the comfort of my own computer :) Amber, it was so great seeing you today!

"Kilt Day" At Church

Since Brett went on his mission to Scotland, Patrice (his mom) ordered a kilt for Bryson and gave it to him when he turned 1. Since there aren't many opportunities to wear a kilt, I decided to have him wear it to church. Everyone thought it was cute. He was even zeroed in on during Relief Society and all the women loved it. I gotta tell you, on a hot day like today, Bryson liked wearing a skirt. So refreshing!

When Life Gives You Lemons...

Yoga Pants

I made these yesterday in an hour. Very easy, hand stitched (because I don't have a sewing machine yet).




Here's the fabric...yep, an old t-shirt. Size large. Go to makebabystuff.com for instructions. I can't wait to find some t-shirts with cool prints on them. Anyone care to make some donations? I'd love to take them off your hands. They need to be large or extra large.

New Project

I've been influenced by Katie's blog. She is a very crafty person and I would like to strive to accomplish some of the things she can do. I grew up with Katie (she's a few years younger than me) and we were in the same ward for years. Her whole family is very musical and talented. On her blog she shows some of the outfits she has made for her children and herself. Here's a skirt she made for her daughters first day of school in New York. It has cursive writing and an apple button accent. Could you just die!


So I went out and bought a bunch of material and a few patterns, hoping I could accomplish something just as cute for my little boy. I've already cut out the material for a cowboy themed jacket and trousers.

Here's the catch...I don't own a sewing machine!!!
In fact, all my sewing needs can be summed up with little tin can (a christmas present from mom). Have I put the cart before the horse?
