Blog Book 2008

Booksmart finally updated their program and I was able to finish my 2008 year in review. It only cost $40 (including shipping) and turned out really great. It was a little smaller than I had expected but that was my fault for not studying the dimensions when I created it. I think this is a great way to journal/scrapbook without all the waste.

Edward

Okay Bryson, look like a vampire.

We got this photo just in time, the guy who works there tried to prevent us from taking it due to copyright infringement, but my dad's super quick with the camera.
Don't worry shop guy, I won't do anything with the photo...it's just for my scrapbook. (Don't tell him my scrapbook's on the internet! He he he).

Our Maiden Voyage

So Friday started out to be a beautiful day. During Bryson's nap I was able to work out on the treadmill and afterwards I layed out in the sun with my feet in Bryson's kiddie pool. I felt great. I asked Brett if we could try to take the boat out that evening. It would be a short trip, I already knew that, but we needed to test it out and get it running for the summer. I personally hadn't been on the boat since I was 8 months pregnant with Bryson, so I was ready! Also, Folsom Lake is up and the speed restrictions had been lifted. So as we're driving to his mom's house to pick up the boat (she has the boat shed) I start feeling really tired. I figured I just got too much sun that day and maybe I over did it with the workout. I didn't think too much of it. We get the boat in the water just as the sun is getting ready to set. I've packed dinner and am looking forward to a nice evening out on the lake.

We rev up the engines, everything seems fine and we head out.

We didn't get very far.....the boat's engine stalled out on us and the battery died. We're sitting ducks. Granted, we're still pretty close to the docks, but we had to get out the oars and Brett had to paddle. It was actually pretty funny, but still annoying. Our evening plans were ruined.

Lucky for us another boat came by and it just happened to be my friends mom, Blanca and her husband. They saved us!

So as we're driving back to Brett's mom's house, I'm feeling very tired. We order out Mexican but I'm not feeling very well. I can't even get two bites down. Brett and I grab Bryson, apologize for an evening lost and go home. Later that night I'm up, getting sick every two hours and not able to keep even water down. Let's just say I became 5 lbs lighter by the next day and finally felt better the next evening. I felt great on Sunday and we were able to go to church. Now guess who came home from work early today and is upstairs not feeling so well? Brett. Ugh.

It Must Be....

If your mom dresses you all in green and puts you in a silly hat...

If your mom gives you chocolate gold nuggets for breakfast from some guy named "the leprechaun"...

If your milk has mysteriously turned green, but it's still okay to drink...

Then it must be St. Patricks Day!!

Check It Out!

Look at my friend Mimi Evans blog for highlights of one of the best parties I've been to, Joy's birthday. We had a blast! Mimi is so creative and made the cutest stuff. Now you know where I get some of my inspirations :) I'm hoping Mimi and Joy open up their own store similar to "Dear Lizzie" in Utah. They run Pinkapple Boutique (formerly Chatterbox Designs) from their homes right now. You can see their blogs on my links. Enjoy!

My First Dress

So in my sewing adventures, I decided to make a dress. I'm finding out that I don't like to go exactly by the patten, so there's a lot of fudging involved. I wore it to church today! I have to say I'm very proud of it, but I think the end result was more homely than I had wanted. It's not a maternity dress, so it's a little short on me right now, but after baby it will be just fine.

Soap Cupcakes

Grate a bar of soap. I used Yardley of London, it has a nice lavender smell. This should make about 4 "cupcakes".

Add extras...lavender, oatmeal, etc. Then microwave it for about a minute.

Push the mixture into cupcake wrappers in a muffin tin (I used the foil ones). Let it set (about 12 hours or so).

Melt down some more soap, preferably a cute color like pink or blue, and let it cool for a small amount of time until you are able to "gob" it on top of the "cake". I added some glitter to make it extra girly.

Yum, looks good enough to eat, and smells so good. I gave two of them to a friend for her birthday.

Photo Update

Here's a few things we've been doing this week.

Once I found out we're having a boy I could finish my diaper cake.

We're introducing the idea of a potty to Bryson, even though I know it will be a year or so before he really starts to understand the concept.

Bryson hanging out with his cousin Troy. I can just imagine them as teenagers!

A sneaky shot I took (don't let him see you!!!) of Bryson being such a good boy in church nursery. They're having their snack of goldfish, string cheese and mandarin oranges (which it was my turn to bring).

It's A Boy!

I know everyone was hoping for a girl...but we couldn't be more overjoyed to have another boy. Think of all the money we'll save, we already have everything! I told Brett he's lucky, I don't feel the urge to shop since it's a boy. We aren't going to stop at two, so there's still more chances to have a girl. Just like my sister-in-law Lexi always says, "I'm happy having all boys". We'll take whatever God gives us and just be thankful they're healthy, happy and well loved :)

Height Calculator

I saw a link to calculate the height your child will be here:
http://health.msn.com/kids-health/height-predictor.aspx
Bryson's going to be 6'4...wow!

Misc. Photo Update

Bryson's always finding creative ways to play. He's really into stacking and lining up things lately.

Finishing off Mama's Root beer. The kid LOVES Root beer.

Snuggling on the swing during playgroup. Such good loves!

Happy 80th Birthday "Gus"!

My Grandma Barbara has a wonderful man in her life and this month he turned 80! We celebrated with family and friends at the Lodge in their neighborhood and had a wonderful time.

Gus giving a speech (his first name is Ken, but we call him Gus so as not to confuse him with my dad...also Ken).

Grandma Barbara giving a wonderful toast. We felt the love.

Jayden doing a great job entertaining Bryson.

Our cute little boy. Being shy and hiding in daddy's legs.

We really enjoyed seeing everyone again... and Gus, I hope you know how much we love you and you are such a blessing in our life.
