Lonely Day At The Park

Friday's are always park days, and today it was supposed to be at the park near my house. It was a rainy, wet day, and I really didn't know if anyone would show up. Bryson and I went, armed with towels and hot chocolate. Nobody came. I was a little disappointed...but we had fun anyway! Also, I've been enjoying the hot chocolate all day long :)

Finally Finished

This was the jacket and pants I had started before I owned a sewing machine. I finally finished it yesterday. It gave me a few challenges, but I persevered and I'm very proud of it. The funny thing is, it won't fit Bryson until he's 2 or maybe even 3. Oh well, it will look cute hanging in his nursery until then. On to the next project!

Happy Halloween!

Yes On Prop 8

Third Halloween Party

I'm sure you're sick of seeing Bryson in his Pirate costume by now (we really got our money's worth with this costume this year!), but I have to show off his new accessory. His Pirate Ship! I had fun making it and it even has lights! Every kid there wanted a ride! This was at my ward's "Trunk or Treat". Notice I've ditched my costume and just put on anything Halloweenish. Hence the Ghostbusters shirt, flashing horns headband and ghost earrings.

Just A Taste

The ladies in our ward got together for a "soups and stews" recipe party the other day. There were so many yummy soups that warmed our bellies and our spirits. You can check out our recipes at justatastecookingclass.blogspot.com (just a taste cooking class). I guess the month before they did deserts, I missed that one... bummer! Can't wait for the next one! Thanks Kim, for putting this on. It's really a great idea.

Bryson's 15 Month Appt.

Height: 32 7/8 inches tall (95%)
Weight: 25.4 lbs (75%)
Head Circ: 19 1/2 inches (80%)

He's growing great, getting taller and thinning out. His head is starting to get more in proportion with his body. He's advancing normally with language and abilities, eating like a champ (loves vegetables and fruit...which may change when he's around 2), and interacting well with others. He loves waving bye bye but still won't say it. He's says "duck", "hot", "dada", "mom" "this", "that", "no" "vroom vroom" (with cars)... He wakes up around 7 or 8am, gets his teeth brushed 3 times a day, takes one three hour nap around noon or 1pm, and goes to bed around 8:30 or 9pm. Lately he's had some trouble going to bed, but we found if we keep his light on, he does better (afraid of the dark). I've stopped rocking him to sleep at night and I just put him down with a bottle, like we do at nap time. I know it's not the best for his teeth, but it works for us. Plus I brush his teeth so often I'm hoping it evens out. He still loves soft blankets rubbed on his face. Often he'll take his stuffed animals and hold them to his cheek as he walks around. He has free range of the house and loves getting into cabinets and playing with bowls, spoons, rolling pins, hot pads, you name it. We have to keep the bathroom doors shut because he loves playing in the toilet water and dipping his toys in it. We even lost a toothbrush when he dropped it in the toilet at a hotel (gross!). He loves his baby Einstein videos and even has his favorite parts that make him laugh every time. When we sit down to have dinner, we bless the food and Brett and I always give each other a kiss. Bryson has started leaning his forehead in for us to kiss. It melts our hearts. He is our pride and joy and we are so blessed he is healthy, happy, smart, and gosh darn cute!

My First Quilt

I'm having a blast with my new sewing machine. I just finished this quilt today. I had bought the material on Wednesday at this new fabric shop in Cameron Park, and it took me 3 "nap times" to complete it. Very easy. It's called "Off to bedtime" and it has cute animals sleeping. I've also finished two other projects but I can't blog about it because they're Christmas presents and I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.

Fun At The Park

Our church has started playdates at the park again. We'll meet every Friday morning at a different park each time. Bryson's finally at the age where he can do more things at the park. He loved going down the slide (on his belly, feet first.) His hair gets so much static electricity and it stands on end. So funny. He also watches the other kids and learns how to do more things. That's so good for him. He doesn't have any older siblings so he's having to figure things out on his own. It's nice to have other kids to watch and see that they're doing things he hasn't thought of. You can see the excitement in his face when he experiences something new.

Second Halloween Party

Tonight I went to a fabulous party at the Cottrell's house (our friends and neighbors). Everyone dressed up and we had a great time. Brett is still out of town, so Bryson was my date. Everyone was so nice accepting a baby at the party (I know it's a no no), and they all helped me keep him away from the fire pit. I didn't get pictures of everyone, I'm sure Joy will have more on her blog, but here's a few...

Our gracious hosts Lucy and Desi (Joy and Chris).

Helen of Troy and Gladiator (Brandi and Jared).

Ugly Betty (Mimi).

Dead bride (Melissa).

Pirates (me and Bryson) Arrgh!

There were a lot of fun games, here's the donut eating contest...Bryson wasn't much help. He just laughed at me. The other couples really got into it!

It was a great party! Thanks Joy and Chris for putting it on. You always throw the best parties.

First Halloween Party

On Wednesday Bryson and I went to hang out at Tiffany and Lexi's ward's Halloween party. It was a church function called "Trunk or Treat". It starts off with a chili and cornbread feed, followed by a "Halloween Carnival" inside the church building. Then the kids trick or treat from the tailgates of ward members cars...hence the name, "trunk or treat". Every ward does this, my ward's party is on Saturday and I will be going to that one too. Bryson loves seeing all the kids dressed up and running around. Not to mention he's so cute in his pirate costume. Brett couldn't make it because he's at a business convention.

Here's Cole and Dallas dressed as dinosaurs.

Lexi, Me, Bryson, and Tiffany. What a bunch of misfits!

What A Face!

Our boy really knows how to use those eyebrow muscles.

Happy Birthday Bro!

Karson, I've loved sharing my birthday with you (mine is the 17th, his is the 19th). It's always been meaningful to me, the fact that we can combine our birthdays. We don't get to see each other as often as we'd like, because you work so much, so I'm glad we at least have this. You're the best brother!

Let's take a look back on how cute we used to be, before we gave our parents gray hair.

Love ya bro!

Apple Hill In October

I love apple hill. I try to go every year. I went with my mom, dad, and nephew Cameron. We enjoyed apple donuts and milk, watching a big fish get caught at the lake, pumpkin hunting (and throwing...bad Bryson!), and lots of Halloween and Christmas crafts. Unfortunately the pony rides were closed (weekends only I guess) Check out my parents, 36 years and still doing sappy stuff like this! Cameron's thinking, "what are you doing with my donut? Give it back!"

Bryson, official "Gourd Guard".

These boys are so cute playing together. They loved the pumpkins.

Grandpa Grewe leading the way.
